St.Mary's Church
Sri Lanka is an ethnically diverse nation that has a population consisting of primarily Sinhalese, Tamil, and Muslim populations in addition to various other minorities. This demographic mix is further diversified with the introduction of multiple faiths including Buddhism, Islam and Christianity.

The coastal town of Negombo is an area in Sri Lanka that is dominated heavily by the Christian Faith and one of town’s most important structures is St. Mary’s Church. This holy building is lavish and grand in nature, standing tall amidst
other structure in the town. The church consists of three main levels which
are immediately apparent when approaching the structure from the front.

Numerous highlights present themselves inside the church making this destination more than well worth a visit. One such highlight is the ceiling of the Church that features beautiful mosaics depicting scenes from the bible. Another prominent highlight is an effigy of Jesus that is met with a soft light filtered through stained glass windows that presents a beautiful optical image inspiring a strong feeling of divinity.

The main altar of St. Mary’s is adorned with ornately crafted figures and adornments that convey a true sense ofreverence. Another section of the Church features a long hall with pillars adorning either side. Mounted on each pillar are different figures related to Christianity.

To its graceful architecture and religious significance, St. Mary’s Church is one of the more prominent attractions in Negombo, Sri Lanka and guests of Jetwing Ayurveda Pavilions should ensure that this destination is on their travel itinerary.
