Yala National Park
The most iconic national park in Sri Lanka
Yala National Park is the second largest nature reserve in Sri Lanka, and without a doubt the most famous. With a history of over 100 years, this famed sanctuary is the world’s best place to spot the elusive leopard, majestic Sri Lankan elephant, and sloth bear – all in their natural habitat within a single reserve. In addition to having one of the highest concentrations of leopards in the world, Yala National Park is home to over 40 other mammals and over 200 species of birds.
The entrance to Yala block I, the most popular block of the five blocks, is within a 10-minute drive of Jetwing Jungle Lodge while the park’s other, relatively quieter blocks can be accessed within an hour’s drive.
