The tropical island of Sri Lanka sits next to the equator and a warm climate is generally expected across the country without any division of seasons. Situated on the coast in the South of Sri Lanka, the weather in Galle is hot and humid with an average temperature of around 27°C and sometimes climbing even higher. The cooling sea breeze however, moderates the temperature especially at night dropping between 22°C to 25°C with fresh gusts from the ocean billowing in to make it pleasant and cool.
Being in the tropics however, Sri Lanka is affected by monsoons and wet weather is unavoidable. Being in the heart of the ‘wet zone’ the South-western monsoon affects Galle from June to October, with intermittent showers from the North-eastern monsoon breaking in from December to March. Hot and heady days however, are much the norm at Jetwing Lighthouse, and if the weather decides to take a rest, there is plenty to keep you busy until it gets back to its best.
