Located on the South West tip of Sri Lanka which is in close proximity to the equator, Galle is accustomed to tropical rainforest climate, with weather that is hot and humid all year around. Between January and May the maximum daytime temperature varies between 29°C and 34°C, while night time temperature fluctuates between 22°C and 25°C. The wettest period in Galle is from June to September, during which time the city experiences the South-West monsoon. Monsoons from the Indian Ocean greatly affect the climate of this historic port city.
