Yala benefits from the North-East monsoon that nourishes the country from November to February, and ranges from 25°C to 38°C in temperature; January being the coolest, and May the warmest. The area enjoys a total annual rainfall of about 1281mm, and is situated in the lowest penplain of Sri Lanka.
The best time to visit the Yala National Park situated just beyond our Jetwing Tented Villas is during the dry season that extends from June through mid October. A safari aptly timed just after an out-pour of rain could prove not only to be comfortably cool, but also increases the chances of animal sightings. Setting out in the early hours of the morning is highly recommended, especially to spot the elusive leopard specie. With the unique ecosystem of the area consisting of moist monsoon forests, dry monsoon forests, semi deciduous forests, thorn forests, grasslands, fresh water and marine wetlands, and sandy beaches, Yala is a truly a versatile wilderness adventure to which Jetwing Tented Villas is a luxurious launching pad.
