Weather

In the heart of the North Central plains and at the core of the dry zone in Sri Lanka, at Dambulla, weather conditions vary considerably from the popular resort towns on the coasts of the island. It is warm and tropical throughout the year and average temperatures hover at around 29C during day time, dropping down to a cooler 26C at night.

You will experience a marked difference in the air though from the ‘wet zone’ as you will be further inland and well away from the sea. With the humidity being less than on the coasts, and receiving far less rain fall, the air is certainly more arid.

Being near the Equator, Sri Lanka has no distinct seasons, but the monsoons do the needful in their own way. Affecting the popular west coast, the South-western monsoon occurs from June to October and the North-eastern monsoon brings rains to the ‘dry zone’ from December to March – so, wet weather is generally to be expected at Jetwing Vil Uyana during these months. Overall however, the sun and good weather tends to conquer the clouds to bring you wonderful days of sunshine all round.
