Sakkotai Cape (Point Pedro)
The northern tip of Sri Lanka
Sakkotai Cape is the northernmost point of Sri Lanka, located a short distance away from the town of Point Pedro. Home to a dilapidated lighthouse in a northern naval base, and a directional signpost that marks the distance to various countries, the locale of Point Pedro features a coastal drive that runs along the top edge of our teardrop-shaped isle. On its eastern front, a concrete flag of Sri Lanka marks Sakkotai Cape against the backdrop of the Indian Ocean.
Located approximately an hour’s drive from North Gate by Jetwing, Sakkotai Cape is rests upon a rocky shoreline at the edge of Point Pedro. And if you drive along the northern perimeter of our island, you may even be able to see the southern coastline of India with the naked eye.
