Jetwing Hotels Stars at Culinary Art and Food Expo 2017 with 94 Medals

Sri Lanka’s premier hospitality brand Jetwing Hotels bagged an astounding 94 medals at the Culinary Art Expo 2017 organized by the Chef’s Guild of Lanka which took place from 28th30th July, 2017 at BMICH.

With a total of 12 Gold medals, 21 Silver and 60 Bronze, Jetwing Sea, Jetwing Blue, Jetwing

Beach, Jetwing Lagoon, Jetwing Ayurveda Pavilions, Jetwing Lighthouse, Jetwing Yala, Jetwing Vil Uyana, Sunrise by Jetwing and Jie Jie Beach by Jetwing dominated the culinary scene by taking part in all of the categories set forward during the 3 day challenges. Backed by renowned chefs the teams from each property shone through the skills they brought to the table. This time around the competition saw to 1,700 chefs from 165 hotels partaking on various culinary accolades in the competition judged by 31 respected judges from the World Association of Chefs’ Societies.

Jetwing Sea was awarded 3 Gold medals for Hot Cooking Live, Apprentice Desserts Live and Flambé Dessert together with 2 Silver and 11 Bronze medals. Jetwing Blue received 2 Gold medals for Petit Fours and Beer Cocktail with a total of 13 medals; Jetwing Beach 2 Gold medals for Petit Fours and Lion Stout Competition with 14 medals in total; Jetwing Lagoon received 1 Gold medal for Hot Cooking with 3 medals all together, and one bronze medal for Jetwing Ayurveda Pavilions.  Jetwing Lighthouse owned 12 medals; Jetwing Yala a total of 5 medals with one of the associates – S. N. P. Sandaruwan being a Jetwing Youth Development Project (JYDP) graduate, while Jetwing Vil Uyana took up 9 medals. Sunrise by Jetwing received a total of 4 medals while Jie Jie Beach by Jetwing took home 17 medals inclusive of 4 Gold medals for Fruit and Vegetable Carving, Flambé Desserts, New Sri Lanka Cuisine, and Wedding Cake Structure. A special mention must be made of Poornima Rajapaksha from Jie Jie Beach by Jetwing, the Gold winner for Flambé Desserts who was also a trainee from the Jetwing Youth Development Project (JYDP).
