An Evening of Musical Melody at Jetwing Colombo Seven

To ring in the holiday season with some musical flair, Jetwing is proud to host some of Sri Lanka’s finest musicians and performers for a musical evening at the Jetwing Colombo Seven on the 1st of December 2017.

Gehan Cooray has a repertoire that encompasses everything from genres such as opera and classical music to light rock and jazz. He has also directed and performed in a series of operas in Sri Lanka, in collaboration with his vocal coach Menaka de Fonseka Sahabandu, who will also be performing at the event.

Menaka is one of Colombo’s best-loved music teachers and singing coaches, who has over 30 years of experience in nurturing local talent. She performs with the Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka and directs a performance ensemble, the Menaka Singers. One of Menaka’s students, Samali Liyanage, will also lend her vocal talents to the musical evening.

Joining them is violin maestro Ananda Dabare and his string quartet. Mr Dabare’s name and talents are known the world over. He has imbibed in his generations of students an appreciation for classical music, breathing new life to the genre in Sri Lanka. He has a wealth of experience in Oriental music too. For 8 years, he was the leader of the Symphony Orchestra and has also held the post of its principal conductor.

True to its history of support for the arts in Sri Lanka, Jetwing has hosted several musical events at Jetwing Colombo Seven in the year that the property has been open. Tickets are priced at Rs. 3,000 and can be purchased at the hotel reception prior to the date. The event will take place at Barnes, the main hall at Jetwing Colombo Seven.
