As day gives way to night, a new set of actors take to the dimly lit stage to continue the drama of life. The familiar, comforting bird calls of the diurnals give way to peculiar, metallic, staccato bursts that ring through the trees – the unmistakable call of the nightjar. Raptors cede their thrones to the silent hunters of the night, the owls who haunt the woods in search of rodents. Palm civets scurry among the undergrowth, fruit bats feed on seasonal fruit, and if you are really lucky, you may even spot fishing cats and rusty-spotted cats. The resident naturalist will take you on an hour-long tour of the premises, guided by red lamps, to observe the secret lives of these creatures who walk the dark side, and every night promises to reveal something exciting.
