Minneriya and Kaudulla National Parks in Sri Lanka are famous for hosting one of Asia's most spectacular wildlife events: the annual Elephant Gathering. This phenomenon occurs primarily during the dry season, from July to October, when hundreds of wild Sri Lankan elephants congregate around the life-giving waters and fresh grazing grass of the ancient Minneriya and Kaudulla tanks. Beyond the elephants, the parks are home to diverse wildlife, including Spotted Deer, Sambar Deer, Water Buffalo, various monkey species, and a multitude of birdlife.
