The Dambadeniya Kingdom (13th Century) was Sri Lanka's capital following the fall of Polonnaruwa, established by King Vijayabahu III. Centered around a fortified rock fortress (Maligagala), it was a brief but significant era of Sinhalese revival, art, and literature, and a sanctuary for the Sacred Tooth Relic before it moved again.
