Dambakola Patuna

Dambakola Patuna is an ancient port in the north of Jaffna, historically known as Jambukolapattinam. Its primary significance is as the legendary landing site in the 3rd century BC where Theri Sanghamitta, daughter of Emperor Ashoka, arrived with the Sacred Bo Sapling, pivotal to the introduction of Buddhism in Sri Lanka.
