Bentara River Cruise
The neighborhood waters we call home
When you choose to live aboard a houseboat, the waters that surround you naturally call out for exploration. For us at Yathra by Jetwing, the Bentara River is one that is familiar, and serves as a wonderful adventure for you to experience the inland waters in a province otherwise known for its beaches. Crocodiles, monitor lizards and exotic species of birds grace the mangrove-laden ecosystem of this long southern waterway habited by traditional fishing communities. In addition, a voyage along the Bentara River is incomplete without a visit to the Pahurukanda Temple – a mountainous islet with a replica of the Lord Buddha’s footprint similar to the one found at the summit of Adam’s Peak.
At Yathra by Jetwing, the waters of the Bentara River are our home. Depending on weather conditions, the expedition through the quieter tributaries of this inland waterway lasts for a few hours, and is best experienced either early morning or towards the sunset – when our surrounding environment is alive in all its glory.
